An Appology to Lisa............

Right before Johnny, Aimee & Jack came out to stay with me for Thanks Giving, I sent Lisa to the grocery store to purchase "kid friendly" eats for my house guests. I gave Lisa a blank check and strict guidelines to come back with food that Jack would like and lots of candy for my candy drawer. (I typically keep "the candy drawer" stocked for my nieces and nephews...oh and occasionally I dip in to the kitty myself!) AND OF COURSE....CAMILLE...who I also keep hundreds of packets of Taco Bell Mild Sauce for!
Imagine my dismay when Lisa returned from the grocery store with the following items: candy canes, starbursts, nerds and Lick-a-Sticks. Lick-a-sticks? Did you know they still make Lick-a-sticks? I said Lisa.....are you kidding me? Lick-a-sticks??? You are officially out of the "Amy H. Grocery Purchaser of the Month Club". Did I mention that little Jack is three years old? I doubt Lisa buys Lick-a-sticks for Annie and Katie to eat around the house. I immediately put the Lick-a-sticks up high, far away from the candy drawer and then proceeded to make a list of GOOD candy to buy on my next trip out! (How else am I going to maintain my status as favorite Aunt?)

Well....to be honest, I haven't gone to the grocery store since Lisa went for me last month. (Grocery shopping is not my strong point.) I was dying for some candy (since apparently people don't think single girls need "baked goodies" during the holiday season (hint to local readers....no raisins or cherry flavored candy please.) Anywho..... I opened the candy drawer......nothing interesting there......and then I went to the high cupboard and discovered several LICK-A-STICKS. In my quite desperation for nourishment, I ripped open the little white stick and tore off the top of the "Grape" sugar dust and dipped away. GUESS WHAT? I like Lick-a-sticks. The little stick still makes your tongue hurt and the sides of the wrapper still get all nasty....but I'll tell you what.....that's good sugar dust! So....if you come to my house.....those over 18 years old, are welcome to enjoy a Lick-a-stick! Happy Holiday!

Aaaaa....yeah.....Aim, I think you are forgetting one important person that you keep the candy drawer stocked for.....ME!!! And, as for Lisa, hey girl...you can go shopping for me anytime.

I'd like to place my order now please....one packet of lick-a-stick, two laffy taffy and package of nerds. That'll get me started.

Geeeez ya move to Texas and your friends forget all about your sugar, sucrose, high carn syrup needs. See you on the 26th!

I too enjoy the lick-a-sticks, but they live in my memory with bottlecaps and big league chew (grape). If I can get a lick-a-stick and a grape slurpee (ONLY 7-11 slurpees will do) I am a happy woman. You can have orange mixed with the grape slurpee or maybe put coke on the bottom so your Mom won't see it. But, make sure to get a straw that isn't see through or the jig is up.

Hey, wait a minute, ... I think I'm the last one to read this!!! I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a good grocery shopper when it comes to food, ... but with Candy, I'm great! I stocked your drawer!! I didn't just get lick-a-sticks (which I totally buy for my girls but control how much and where they eat it) but I also bought licorice, snickers, nerds, gummy worms, sour candies, sweet tarts, skittles, m&ms, starbursts, and I'm sure I'm missing some. This is not to mention the peppermint ice cream! You just didn't realize how well I did because it disappeared so quickly!! If you were dogging on my ability to shop for real food, I would have NO defense but I can sit back quietly while you insult my ability to buy candy!!!

One more thing, ... thanks Camille!
