This whole I-Pod thing has put me in a real frenzy! See….I had to pull out every CD that I’ve ever owned when I painted my armoire…..I couldn’t very well just paint around them! I smiled a lot as I read the titles of the albums in the far…far… back that I haven’t even glanced in at least 12 years (give or take 5-7). Apparently I’ve just lugged them from Novato, to Provo, to Petaluma, to Provo, to New Canaan….(where I locked them carefully in storage when I had to leave them completely during my 19 months in Puerto Rico) back to Provo, to Holiday, to Murray, to Mom and Dads basement (for my 12 month stint as their “live-in adult daughter” while I save for a house…) and then finally….their resting place for the last four and a half years…..my home in Salt Lake. I guess I just figured that Paula Abdul would make a come back (and folks….let’s face it…she did with that American Idol.) I mean…..how do you just let go of your junior year in high school by throwing away Bobby Brown…. “Don’t be Cruel”…..just because Whitney was…..doesn’t mean I have to be, by thoughtlessly tossing the ART he worked so hard to create….besides… “It’s My Prerogative” I can do what I want to do!!! And….by the way, “no, my first name aint Baby…it’s Janet, Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty” (mom I’ll explain later)…Rhythm Nation was the first CD I ever owned and it was given to me by my little brother Johnny (and the last gift he would give me for many, many years) on my 16th birthday. That was the same year I got my stereo….WITH A CD player…..Spencer, it’s a lot like the one your mom (Holly) got you for your fourth birthday…only mine has a record player too…. that’s right folks…..I said HAS….as in, I still have the stereo….can’t let that go either…..it’s gathering dust and providing dark, dry places for spiders in my basement…..again…you never know when CD’s will just stop working all together and we’ll go back to records and mix tapes. (Remember the great scare of Y2K?…..folks…really we’ve got to live in reality…it’s a dark world we live in!) Wish I still had the “Caddy”…then I’d have an 8-track player too and a place to live if things went real south….Oh…but the price of gas…..that wouldn’t have worked anyway…I guess.) So many great CD’s…..So many classics….like “Hammer” (as in MC), “Bell Biv Devoe”, “Salt n’ Peppa”, the soundtrack from the movie “The Body Guard”, “Extreme” (throw away……”More than Words Can Say”???…that would just be sacrilegious!) “Boys to Men”, “Erasure”, “ Chicago 17”, “En Vouge” and about 30 other great CD’s (that the generous folks at Columbia House were crazy enough to send out to “Amyila Lorraine”….my Cabbage Patch Kid….and for only a penny!) So…and here is where the frenzy comes in…..the CD’s that were made circa 1990 do not have titles attached to them….so when I load them to my I-tunes….no information magically pops up….like the name of the artist, the album name and the song name……now I’ve got an I-Pod full of “track 1’s”, “track 2’s” etc. This means that I am in the process of painstakingly going back and actually listening to these songs! Must I be forced to relieve the moments when Greg Garretson asked someone else to dance during Depeche Modes “SOMEBODY” at the NHS Homecoming dance of 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991? Is there no mercy?

Thanks for the laugh. I sure have missed your humor. How do you just naturally come up with that? As far as your problem, you can type the track name and artist in iTunes. I'm not saying you want to, but you can. Maybe you don't want to know Paula Abdul is coming up because you would skip her every time.
